Myself and several fellow retirees have been playing pool every Thursday at the Utica Snookers Pool & Pub since the beginning of this year and have had no problems until this past Thursday, 8/23/07.

While playing on the back tables adjacent to the owner??s office, we were being distracted by the bright light in the office so I walked over and quietly closed the door of the way. Not long after, the owner??s bookkeeper, after completing her duties, came over to our table and proceeded to admonish me for closing the door. When I tried to explain the reason why, she then stated that she did not care if we were shooting pool or not, that it was her boss??s office and she wanted that door left open. I then politely tried to reason with her and offer an alternative solution. She then continued her tirade so I just turned around and walked away not wanting to continue her argument.
I then sent her boss and the establishment??s owner, MIKE ABRAMS, a letter explaining what had occurred including a complaint about her two daughters running around our table and distracting us while we were shooting. On Tuesday, 8/27/07, Mr. Abrams called me at home. When I returned his call and attempted to explain what had happened, he informed me that he did not appreciate what I had said to his ??Controller?. When I attempted to asked him exactly what she had said and if I could present my side of the story, he informed me that our conversation was now over. And furthermore, that he had given instructions to the manager that should I ever set foot in that bar again, that they would immediately call the police and have me arrested. ??? What?????
The most disappointing aspect of this one sided conversation I had with Mr. Abrams is the fact that he accepted his bookkeepers testimony verbatim and as fact without allowing me to even attempt to provide accurate details of what actually occured. That in itself is extremely disturbing.
As of this writing, I have absolutely no idea what was said to Mr. Abrams by his controller that would warrant his completely irrational reaction to this harmless incident. I was not even afforded the opportunity to ask him if he had at least consulted with the day manager Rob to ascertain whether or not we were causing a problem.
While we have thoroughly enjoyed spending our Thursday afternoons at this establishment, I have nothing but disdain at the complete irrational behavior of its owner, Mr. Michael Abrams.
It is not my intent to disparage Snookers Pool & Pub in Utica because both the mangers and the wait staff are the best, especially Rob the manager and Jennifer. Their professionalism and friendliness is unequalled. My only complaint is the unwillingness of its owner, Mike Abrams, to discuss what happened and allow me to present my side of the story instead of judging me guilty as charged.
If Mr. Abrams should have access to this forum, perhaps he would reconsider his previous judgment and in a gentlemanly manner, give me a call to discuss this event in a more civil and fair manner. He does have my phone number.
Should that not occur, then I have no other alternative but to advise all readers to avoid the Snookers Pool & Pub in Utica, or any other owned by Mike Abrams for that matter, and take your business somewhere else where they will appreciate you.
